FRIDAY, JUNE 20
POTPOURRI
Landmark Park will extend its hours today and remain open until 8 p.m. The park will give free wagon rides from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The extended hours will continue through the summer on Fridays only. SATURDAY, JUNE 21
FESTIVALS
Carnivale International 2008 will be held June 21 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dothan Cultural Arts Center on South Saint Andrews Street.
Presented by the George Washington Carver Interpretive Museum, the event is intended to celebrate ethnicity and cultural diversity in the Wiregrass. Admission is $10 for adults and $15 for a couple or family. There will be art, music, dance, a fashion show and food representing different ethnic groups in the area.

FESTIVALS
The Wiregrass Blueberry Festival will be held on the square in downtown Headland on June 21. The festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are invited to bring coolers and take home locally-grown blueberries. Blueberry bushes also will be for sale. A blueberry recipe contest will be held as well as a Baby Crawl Contest, a Blueberry Bubble Blowing event, a Junior Tractor Pull for ages 3 to 5, a Hoola Hoop Contest and a Pie-Eating Contest.

FESTIVALS
The Slocomb Tomato Festival will be held Saturday, June 21, at the Slocomb Recreational Park, located at 375 E. Cox St.
Festivities begin with a parade at 10 a.m. through downtown Slocomb. Gates open after the parade around 11 a.m., and the festival features vendors, kids’ rides and live entertainment. The live entertainment ends at 6 p.m. The kids’ carnival wraps up at 9 p.m.

MUSIC
Atlanta-based foursome Dearestazazel will perform at the Featured Players Theatre at 158 S. Foster St. in downtown Dothan on Saturday, June 21. The Dothan stop is part of the dance rock band’s spring road tour to promote their upcoming album, “Be Mine.” The show starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $7. Call (334) 673-1243 for more information.

FESTIVALS
The City of Enterprise Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Children’s Festival in the Park on Saturday, June 21, beginning at 2 p.m. at the Enterprise Recreational Complex located on Highway 167 North. Entertainment will begin in the evening, and the event will end with fireworks sponsored by Medical Center Enterprise. The event is free to the public, but food will be available for purchase.

THURSDAY, JUNE 26
MUSIC
Music by Moonlight at Landmark Park will feature The Moonlighters on Thursday, June 26, at 7:30 p.m. at the park’s gazebo. The Moonlighters are an 18-piece orchestra who play big band and swing music. Also featured will be The Sisterhood of the Traveling Music Cart and ArtSong Vocal Ensemble. Donations will be taken to help Dothan City Schools’ music programs. The Music by Moonlight series is sponsored by Music South and Landmark Park. Visitors are encouraged to bring a blanket, lawn chairs and a picnic supper. Admission is free.

THEATER
See Bobbi Jaynes Triplett Curtis as “Birdell” by playwright Gary Carden on Thursday, June 26, during a Ladies’ Lunch presented by the Brundidge Historical Society. The production revolves around character Birdell Tolly, an 86-year-old woman who doesn’t sugarcoat her life story of growing up in a cabin in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. The event will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the We Piddle Around Theater in Brundidge. Tickets are $15 and are available at Rue’s Antiques in downtown Brundidge or by calling (334) 735-3125.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28
POTPOURRI
An Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social will be held on June 28 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Landmark Park.
Entertainment will include music in the gazebo, wagon rides and a cakewalk, old-fashioned games, an exhibit of dairy implements in the park’s church and humorous storytelling on the porch of the Waddell House. A 32-foot Mobile Dairy Classroom, sponsored by the Alabama Dairy Farmers, will bring a live cow to the event to demonstrate the modern milking process with a fully operational milking parlor. Park volunteers will be scooping free single dip cones of different flavors of ice cream. Or, visitors can purchase a special treat in the Martin Drugstore.
Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 4 to 15 and free for members and children 3 and under. Landmark Park is located on U.S. Highway 431 North in Dothan. For more information, contact the park at 794-3452.

TUESDAY, JULY 1
MUSIC
The Tri-State Community Orchestra and Renaissance Headland will present “A Patriotic Celebration” concert on Tuesday, July 1, at 7:30 p.m. This outdoor concert will be held on the square in Headland and is free to the public. Special guests include a 108-voice choir made up of members from area churches under the direction of Tim Gay from First Baptist Church in Headland and the Headland High School Marching Band.

FRIDAY, JULY 4
POTPOURRI
The Kiwanis Club of Dothan will hold a Family 4th Celebration at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds. Gates open at 10 a.m. and the event ends with fireworks just after dark, or around 9 p.m.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the gate. Kids 12 and under enter free. Advance tickets can be purchased at any Dothan area Movie Gallery, Azar’s Uniforms or from any member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club. Proceeds will go to local charities supported by the Kiwanis Club.
Musicians will perform on three stages during the day beginning at 10 a.m. Artists include Heaven’s Island, Allison Weiss, Hannah Miller, Chris Hodges, Season of Shame, Broken Theory, Mercy Rain and The Springs. There will be a kids zone with inflatables and water slides, a car and motorcycle show, a motorcycle stunt show, food vendors and an air-conditioned arts and crafts building.
