The Kiwanis Club of Dothan will hold a Family 4th Celebration at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds. Gates open at 10 a.m. and the event ends with fireworks just after dark, or around 9 p.m. Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the gate. Kids 12 and under enter free. Advance tickets can be purchased at any Dothan area Movie Gallery, Azar’s Uniforms or from any member of the Dothan Kiwanis Club. Proceeds will go to local charities supported by the Kiwanis Club.
Musicians will perform on three stages during the day beginning at 10 a.m. Artists include Heaven’s Island, Allison Weiss, Hannah Miller, Chris Hodges, Season of Shame, Broken Theory, Mercy Rain and The Springs. There will be a kids zone with inflatables and water slides, a car and motorcycle show, a motorcycle stunt show, food vendors and an air-conditioned arts and crafts building.

ART
First Saturday Family Day will be held at the Wiregrass Museum of Art on Saturday.
Parents are invited to bring their children for the free art lesson held the first Saturday of each month. This month’s topic is art glass. The art lesson will begin at 10:30 a.m.

ART
The latest piece of art designed specifically for the permanent collection at the Wiregrass Museum of Art will be on display for the public to view Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The art work by artist Cal Breed is entitled “Pulse.”
The purchase was made possible by the Alabama State Council on the Arts and Ted’s Jewelers. 

THURSDAY, JULY 10
ART
Free adult art classes for beginning adults are being offered in six-week increments at the Wiregrass Museum of Art. The lessons will be held on Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. to noon and are designed for adults who have zero art training but always wanted to know more about it. There’s no fee or supply costs, and each class is independent. The first six-week increment will begin July 10 and run until Aug. 14.

FRIDAY, JULY 11
THEATER
The Featured Players Theatre will present “When You Comin’ Back, Red Ryder?” by Mark Medoff four weeks beginning Friday, July 11.
Set in the summer of 1969 in a diner in New Mexico, the play revolves around a night chef, his co-workers and a group of customers. Admission is $12 for adults; $6 for children. Doors open at 6 p.m. for dinner and the show starts at 7 p.m. Performances will be on Friday and Saturday, July 11-12, July 18-19, July 25-26 and Aug. 1-2.

THEATER
Opus Nostrum Dinner Theatre at 115 W. Church St. in Headland will stage “Bus Stop” by William Inge and directed by Catherine Ford. Shows will by Friday and Saturdays beginning Friday, July 11, and ending Saturday, July 26. Dinner is catered by Bishop’s Homestyle Cooking.
“Bus Stop” revolves around a group of bus passengers stranded during a snow storm at a roadside diner.

SATURDAY, JULY 12
ART
The mosaic artwork of Frederic Lecut is on display at Koinonia Kaffe on the square in downtown Headland. Born in Abbeville, France, Lecut currently resides in Headland. Visit his Web site at http://www.mosaicblues.com. The cafe, which is closed until July 10, will hold a Meet the Artist reception on Saturday, July 12, from 2-4 p.m. The cafe’s regular hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

THURSDAY, JULY 17
ART
Art After Hours will be held at the Wiregrass Museum of Art on Thursday, July 17, from 5-7:30 p.m.
The monthly event features live music, hors d’oeuvres, a chilled glass of wine and a collage art project. Art After Hours is held the third Thursday of each month. Acoustic musician Brad Clayton will perform in July.
Admission is $5 per person; free for museum members.
