One adult male and a juvenile have been arrested in connection with the vandalism of the Dale County High School football field.
Midland City Police Chief Dexter Hammond said Douglas Quincey, 18, of Midland City, was arrested Sunday and charged with first degree criminal mischief and second degree criminal trespass. A male juvenile from Midland City also faces the same charges. His name was not released. Hammond said the incident remains under investigation.
According to interviews, Hammond said the incident occurred twice Friday night. Quincey is believed to have entered the field between 9:15 and 10 p.m., driving a white pickup truck, and caused damage to the field. Hammond said Quincey then exited the field and the juvenile got behind the wheel and drove onto the field, causing more damage.
Hammond said there is no evidence the incident is related to the death of Dale County High School football coach Todd Horne, who died Tuesday from injuries received in an automobile accident.
“It appears that is the case and it makes me feel better that it did not have anything to do with the coach,” Hammond said. “It looks to be a random act.”
Quincey is being held at the Dale County Jail under no bond. The juvenile is being held at Southeast Alabama Diversion Center.
First degree criminal mischief is a Class C felony, punishable by between one and 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. Second degree criminal trespass is a misdemeanor, punishable by up to three months in jail and a fine of up to $500.

My name is Dan Quincey. I learned of this horrific deed when I got home from work today. Words cannot say or will this comment section let me describe the pure agony or greif I feel for any and all of the people this has touched. It is my sincerest prayer that the Horne family remember that the Quincey family have always thought of you as dear friends and hope the actions of one will not sway our deepest simpothy for ya’ll. I wish that I could have done the things that should have been done to have prevented this kind of behavior, but my brother and I would not have been within the law that protects these kinds of people. THERE is no place for these kind of kids in the place that we normally call home. Make no mistake I am not taking his side, I think he is a product of his home upbringing and should be held to the highest extent of the punishment that he most definately deserves. This has definately affected my family as far as I am concerned and will never forget all the pain he or some others have caused. Again I am Deeply Sorry for your loss and for the part that douglas allen quincey had in your time of pain. He will get what is coming to him one day. Dan

I had said I would put up $500 reward for the person or persons responsible. If the police did the work thank you very much and for doing a good job quickly. If someone turned them in I well forwars the reward money to the police chief when they are prosecuted. If the police did this I would just like to add this to the Colby and Camerons Scholarship fund with the chiefs permission.
