An Ozark man who family said was severely beaten while walking home two weeks ago has been released from the hospital, although he may never be the same.
Julie Parmer said her son, 26-year-old Daniel Solomon, had all his facial bones and ribs broken by at least five men who also stole his wallet and money while Solomon was walking toward Bullock Road.
Parmer said doctors at Southeast Alabama Medical Center believed Solomon was hit in the head with a blunt object and beaten unconscious.
Parmer’s wife found him in front of the Upper Room in Ozark, his mother said.
“He may never be the same again ... I pray that this don’t happen to someone else, but, if whomever done this to him, will do it to someone else,“ she said in an e-mail sent to the Dothan Eagle.
The beating occurred on July 31, just four days before 69-year-old Jerry Norman Kendrick of Clio was found lying in a ditch near Poplar Springs Road in northern Barbour County, where he had apparently been left overnight after giving at least two men a ride.
Ozark police were still investigating the incident last week.
