Two rookie cops were terminated Tuesday by the Dothan Police Department.
Christopher Campbell and Alicia Smith were fired after a determination hearing regarding their expulsion from the Criminal Justice Training Center in Selma.
Dothan Police Chief John Powell said because of their expulsion, the two officers could not be certified as police officers, thus making them useless to the department.
Campbell and Smith were hired by the police department in July. Powell said they were expelled from the police academy on Oct. 2.
Powell declined to comment on why Campbell and Smith were expelled.
Martha Earnhart, a spokesperson for the Criminal Justice Training Center, confirmed that two officers had been expelled for a violation of class rules, but refused to elaborate further.
