This week, Yes We Can! Dothan held four community conversations with around 150 citizens participating in the meetings. The neighborhood and church meetings were held at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and at a house in the Woodmere area. The group also had a business community conversation at Wachovia Bank. T
he group met with of Dothan City schools teachers Wednesday.
So far, there have been about 20 community conversations with almost 500 citizens sharing their voice and concerns about education in Dothan. Some of this week’s major themes included business partnerships with schools, the need for more active parental involvement and supporting teachers as they return to school. Next week there will be four community conversations. The group plans on having 20-30 more meetings before the group begins work on the community agreement.
While the group’s Web site is under construction, there is a temporary space to learn more about Yes We Can! Dothan and find a schedule of upcoming Community Conversations. Visit yeswecandothan.wikispaces.com for this information. Contact Virginia Christian at 836-0217, ext. 109, with questions.
