The campaign of Democratic congressional candidate Bobby Bright announced Monday morning it will suspend campaign activities through Wednesday due to the death of his sister, Shirley Woodham of Ozark, who passed away on Sunday, Oct. 5. She had battled a long illness.
“Shirley, with whom Mayor Bright was extremely close, was a great inspiration to him and an ardent supporter of his campaign,“ Katie Lilley, Bright spokesperson, said in a written statement.
Her death comes a little over a month after the death of the mayor’s brother, Harvey Bright of Dothan, who passed away Aug. 31.
Mayor Bright will resume his normal campaign schedule Thursday, Lilley said.
