A Eufaula teenager died Sunday morning in a single-vehicle crash about three miles west of Bakerhill, according to an Alabama State Highway Patrol report.
Sgt. Scott Brasher said the passenger in the vehicle, James Bradley Williams, died during the crash after he was ejected. Brasher said a 16-year-old boy was driving the 2003 GMC Sierra at the time of the crash, and was airlifted to a hospital in Columbus, Ga. The identity of the driver has not been released, but Brasher said his injuries were not life threatening.
Brasher said the crash happened after the driver lost control of the vehicle at a sharp curve in the road.
Barbour County Coroner Chip Chapman said Williams was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash around 8:40 a.m. Chapman said the crash happened on Barbour County Road 71 just south of the intersection with county road 22.
“He ran off the roadway, overcorrected, spun off and flipped over,” Brasher said.
Brasher said the crash became the first fatality for Barbour County in 2008 to be investigated by the Alabama State Highway Patrol.
