New officials with Movie Gallery are slowly separating from the Dothan-based men who launched the company.

Malugen co-founded Movie Gallery in 1985 and served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer until May 2008.

Along with Malugen, Todd was on the ground floor of the ermgence of what is now the second-largest movie rental company in North America. According to Todd’s biography on the Movie Gallery web site, he was elected Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel in December 1994 and was promoted to Executive Vice President in April 2003. Prior to joining Movie Gallery, he had been an attorney practicing tax and corporate law in Dothan. He was named Chief Compliance Officer effective April 1, 2004.

“We appreciate all that Joe and Page have done for this company,” President and Chief Executive Officer C.J. “Gabe” Gabriel, Jr., said in a written statement. “As a founder, Joe played an instrumental role in creating Movie Gallery. Similarly, Page has been a key member of the senior management team for the last 14 years. On behalf of the Board and all of our talented partners and associates, I thank Joe and Page for their service and wish them well in their future endeavors.”
