Troy Cable to expand into Dale County

Plans are moving forward for another cable service in Dale County.

Dale County commissioners reviewed franchise agreement plans to bring Troy Cable into the area. Pending final approval from the county commission in coming weeks, the franchise is expected to begin work in the Ariton area and move throughout the county.

Commission attorney Henry Steagall said a 5-percent revenue fee was attached to the agreement, although the amount would be nominal to the county.

Commissioner Gerald Harden asked for small changes to the franchise agreement, including assuring the company comes before the commission before working equipment along county roads be completed before the commission approves the agreement.

The cable company will be the second with operations in Dale County, outside of municipalities.
