Two Wiregrass radio stations will take on new formats beginning Monday and four on-air personalities will have a new home.

WRJM 93.7 has changed owners as well as formats. It is now owned by The Radio People and has changed from news talk to a country music format. It will now be known as 93.7 Kickin’ Country and is home to four radio personalities who recently made headlines after walking out of another station.
Amie Pollard and Ken Carlile have taken “Pollard and KC In The Morning” to the station and will air weekday mornings from 6 until 10 a.m. “Big” Mike Casey will be on from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Pollard said the afternoon shift is close to being filled. “Miss Elizabeth” will be on from 7 p.m. until midnight. All four formerly worked for WTVY 95.5 FM.

“We’re excited to be back in the Wiregrass and give our listeners what they want, good music and a lot of fun,” Pollard said.

Meanwhile, another Radio People station, 105.3 FM, has ditched its Classic Country format. The format is now news talk. The daily lineup begins at Midnight with Coast to Coast AM from Midnight until 4 a.m. Lars Larson will be on from 4 until 6 a.m., followed by Dave Ramsey from 6 until 9 a.m. Neal Boortz runs from 9 until Noon, followed by Bill O’Reilly from noon until 2. Glenn Beck runs from 2 until 5, then an encore presentation of O’Reilly runs from 5 until 7 p.m. The Dennis Miller show is on from 7 until 9 p.m., followed by Jim Bohannon from 9 p.m. until Midnight.

On the weekends, 105.3 FM will carry the FoxSports Radio Network.

I tend to agree with canesfan1969 about more to the station swap than meets the eye. I have enjoyed 93.7 for few years, listening to my favorite shows at night working. I have trouble receiving a signal from 105.3 and Shaun Hannity is gone from the afternoons. For those of you in the know, do your homework and you’ll find out exactly how this swap transpired. I did.

WHERE IS IT WRITTEN THAT YOU CAN’T HAVE YOUR OWN OPINION? JUST BECAUSE CERTAIN OF US LIKE COUNTRY OLDIES AND ENJOY ROY FOX, WHY IS IT THAT WE ARE WRONG?  EVERYONE LIKES DIFFERENT THINGS AND MUSIC IS ONE OF THEM. IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT WE DON’T LIKE AMIE AND KC, WE JUST LIKE DIFFERENT MUSIC.  THEY ARE GREAT PERSONALITIES AND HAVE DONE LOTS OF GOOD THINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY.  THAT IS NOT THE OBJECTION HERE, WE SIMPLY ENJOY CERTAIN MUSIC AND WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY IT LIKE EVERYONE ELSE ENJOYS THEIRS.  WE, IN MY GENERATION OF 50 AND OLDER LOVE THAT GENERATION OF MUSIC AND WITH OUT IT THE MUSIC TODAY WOULD NOT HAVE THE BACKGROUND IT HAS. COUNTRY MUSIC LEGENDS LIKE GEORGE JONES WOULD PROBABLY AGREE WITH ME THAT HE WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO BE ABLE TO TUNE TO SOME OF THE GOOD OLE TIME SONGS THAT 105.3 OFFERED US.  I MISS THE STATION AND ITS MUSIC VERY MUCH, AND WISH SOMEONE ELSE WOULD FOLLOW THE LEAD AND PLAY COUNTRY CLASSICS.

First of all, Roy Fox isnt the best announcer of any of them—Amie and K.C. are. You wouldnt have to wonder why the change was going into effect if you had ever really listened to 95.5, 105.3 and now the best 93.7! WHo cares that you are going back to XM. SO what?! I used to listen to XM     ( actually still have it in my car) but since ive recently met Amie back a few months ago.. cant seem to wanta get back to XM..for what? I feel as im missing out on my a.m. laughs, honest, good people! You obviously dont know what your talking about. You are an idiot. George Jones would laugh and you and your comment. Get a life. LOL

What gets me is why flip the formas to begin with keep 93.7 as newstalk and 105.3 as country old or new.  For those of us who listened to 93.7 for local newtalk the transition won’t be so easy.  I feel there is a money trail leading to a shady side to this deal.  I must a that even the Dothan Eagle has covered this transition far more than any in the past. Local radio stations have been switching formts right and let for years and yet not a wrd on any of the pags of the Eagle have I ever sen and now this one makes front page news??  More than coincidence in my own humble opinion.

I LIKE MANY, MANY OTHERS IN THE 105.3 LISTENING AREA ARE SO UPSET IN THE CHANGE THAT WAS MADE IN OUR CLASSIC COUNTRY STATION, AND OUR FAVORITE RADIO PERSONALITY ROY FOX, BEING FIRST CHANGING THE MUSIC WE LOVE AND RARELY HEAR THESE DAYS AND PUTTING SUCH A WONDERFUL LEGEND LIKE ROY IN THE BACKGROUND WHILE OTHERS JUMPED INTO THE FRONT LINE AND TOOK WHAT WE GREW TO ENJOY AND LOVE TO HEAR.  NOW THAT THEY HAVE ANOTHER STATION AND HAVE LEFT THIS ONE WE HAVE TALK TO LISTEN TO INSTEAD OF GOOD OLD FASHIONED MUSIC AND I FOR ONE AM DISGUSTED WITH IT.  IF WE WANTED TO LISTEN TO THE NEW COUNTRY THERE WERE PLENTY OF OTHER STATIONS TO LISTEN TO, BUT WE DON’T!  I AM GOING BACK TO THE MP3 PLAYER WHICH HAVE ALL OLDIES RECORDED BUT WILL MISS A WONDERFUL FRIEND TO GOOD MUSIC, ROY FOX.  HE MUST KNOW THERE ARE THOSE OF US WHO WANT HIM BACK FOR OUR MORNING DRIVE EVERY MORNING ON OUR WAY TO WORK.  PLEASE BRING BACK THAT WONDERFUL CLASSIC SOUND! PLEASE OTHERS WHO FEEL LIKE I DO PLEASE RESPOND!

Just wanted to say that I am very happy for KC and Amie and the others that joined them. I listen every morning going to work and they brighten my day! To the other post you must not have given them much of a chance because they play a mixture of country music. If you had been listening you would here a lot of the oldies!! Good luck to all of you @ 93.7!!!

Where is Roy Fox in this mix? He is the best announcer of any of them. I sent the general manager of the station an e-mail several weeks ago wondering why this change was going into effect. I told him that there were numerous other stations that people could hear Rascall Flatts and Keith Urban, etc on. I really enjoyed listening to 105.3 until they “sent it down the drain”. I informed the general manager that since they were changing the format, I would go back to XM and listen to Willies Place. I can be assured of hearing “real country” on Willies Place. These people today wouldn’t know real country if it bit them in the butt. What a shame. I guess when George Jones comes to stay at his home in Enterprise, he will have to listen to Willies Place to hear some REAL COUNTRY MUSIC.
