The excitement in Enterprise and surrounding towns is growing as next week ushers in the official start of the holiday season with Christmas parades, holiday lighting ceremonies and special events for the upcoming season.

The Enterprise Christmas Parade is set for Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. in downtown. According to Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Lisa Fenner, approximately 100 entries are signed up for the annual event.

The Enterprise High School Marching Band, along with Fort Rucker’s 98th Army Band will perform Christmas carols. Churches, many civic organizations and surrounding area queens will provide riding units and floats, along with motorcycle clubs and antique car clubs.

Fenner said a VIP area will be set-up at the Boll Weevil Monument with a final meeting for parade entries Monday, Dec. 2, at 6 p.m. at city hall.

“This is the meeting that at least one member from each entry must attend, and hear the rules and meeting place for the parade,” she said. “We expect a wonderful showing this year, both from entries and spectators and we invite everyone to come out and enjoy a spectacular parade.”

Saturday, Dec. 7, both New Brockton and Elba will host Christmas parades. The New Brockton Christmas Parade will feature area queens, riding units, horses, floats and an all-day sidewalk festival downtown. The parade will start at 11 a.m. Entries are asked to line-up at New Brockton Elementary School starting at 10 a.m.

Elba will also host the city’s annual Christmas parade at 4:30 p.m. starting with the line-up on Newton Street/Dixon Street and parading through the courthouse square. There is no entry fee, but participants are asked to bring canned goods to donate to the Elba Food Bank.

The Daleville Christmas Parade is planned for Friday, Dec. 6, at 6 p.m. Floats and units are asked to line-up at A.W. Windham Elementary School at 5 p.m.
