Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Jack Powell of Montgomery, Alabama announce the engagement of their daughter, Caroline Elizabeth Powell, to Kelly Alan Harned, junior, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Alan Harned, senior and the late Mrs. Debbie Dickerson Harned of Hendersonville, Tennessee.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Curtis McAliley of Eufaula, Alabama and Mr. Jack M. Powell and the late Mrs. Opal Powell of Eufaula, Alabama.

A graduate of Trinity Presbyterian School in Montgomery, Miss Powell received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from Auburn University. While at Auburn, Miss Powell was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and served as a War Eagle Girl. She is currently employed with LifeLine Children’s Services in Birmingham, Alabama.

The bride groom-to-be is the grandson of Mr. Donald Louis Harned and the late Mrs. Evelyn Wooten Harned, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Edward Dickerson all of Nashville, Tennessee, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Walter Simington of Battle Creek, Michigan.

Mr. Harned graduated from East Literature Magnet School in Nashville, Tennessee. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Samford University where, upon graduation, he was employed in their Sports Marketing & Video Department. Mr. Harned is currently employed by Student Life, an affiliate of LifeWay.

The wedding is planned for November 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Montgomery, Alabama.
