Harvest Church will hold a battle of the bands competition to see who will open for Christian artist Colton Dixon during a June 2 concert to be held at the Dothan church.
The winning band will also receive a three-song demo recorded in a Dothan studio. The battle of the bands will be held Friday, May 17, beginning at 6 p.m. and is free to attend for those watching.
Contestants have until April 25 to register for the musical competition. Registration can be done online at www.HarvestDothan.com/BattleoftheBands. Bands must consist of two or more members, and all band members must be at least 16 years old. Lyrics must be appropriate for a Christian music audience. A $50 entry fee is due at registration.
The competition will be judged by Rush of Fools lead singer Wes Willis, professional music graduate and fine arts adjunct professor Rusty Frith, and Wallace College’s director of choral programs Claudia Bryan.
The June 2 concert featuring Dixon, an American Idol finalist, will be held at 6 p.m. at Harvest Church, located at 2727 Fortner St. Tickets for the concert are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Tickets are available online at harvestdothan.com or at Harvest Church, Dove Christian Supply, Goldfingers restaurants, and The Joy-FM.
