The Henry County coroner released the identity of the woman who was found dead Tuesday morning in her Abbeville home as that of 59-year-old Euna Alice Helms Key.

Coroner Derek Wright said he pronounced Key dead at 11:15 a.m. after finding her in an open living room area of her home at 214 W. Washington St.

Wright said it’s still unclear how Key died, and that she was taken to the state Department of Forensic Science in Montgomery on Wednesday for an autopsy.

Henry County Sheriff William Maddox said investigators with the Henry County Sheriff’s and Abbeville Police investigative Task Force were looking into the circumstances around the death.

Maddox said law enforcement officers were called to the home after Abbeville Police Chief Mike Jones was notified and asked to do a welfare check at the home.

Maddox said the task force was being assisted by the Dothan Police Department’s crime scene unit. He also said experts from the state Department of Forensic Science were called to the home late Tuesday to assist in analysis of the scene.
