An Enterprise man recently pleaded guilty in federal court to the transfer of obscene material to a minor as part of a federal child pornography investigation.
Court records show Vernon Wayne Smith Jr., 44, pleaded guilty to one of the four felony charges filed against him in federal court.
Federal court records show Smith pleaded guilty to the transfer of obscene material to a child under the age of 16 in Coffee County on Oct. 7, 2008.
Records show the federal government charged Smith in January with a four-count felony indictment involving a single possession of child pornography offense and three counts of the transfer of obscene material to a minor.
Records also show the federal government charged Smith with the possession of an Alienware desktop computer along with a 700 gigabyte external hard drive, both of which contained child pornographic images.
Records show three of the offenses alleged Smith used a computer to send obscene matter to someone under the age of 16 on three times between October 2008 and April 2009.
