The man killed Tuesday during a shooting outside a Dothan business has been identified as 21-year-old Colby Aguilar.
Houston County Coroner Robert Byrd said preliminarily it appears Aguilar died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Dothan police responded to a fatal shooting just before 1 p.m. Tuesday in front of YoWay Fashion, a three-year-old business that sells urban wear location on Reaves Street.
Byrd said police found Aguilar inside a Chevrolet pickup truck just down the block from the business after it had crashed into pillar in front of nearby Hope School.
Byrd said the authorities took the entire pickup truck with Aguilar inside it up to the state Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery for an autopsy.
“We’re not really sure about entrance and exit wounds, but right now it appears to be at least two (two gunshot wounds,)” Byrd said.
Byrd said the gunshot wounds all appear to be in the chest and abdomen area. He also said Aguilar’s home address on his driver’s license was in Panama City Beach, Fla., but he may have also had a more recent address in Dothan based on mail found by authorities.
Police said they took a store owner or manager into custody for questioning Tuesday shortly after the shooting, but he was later released.
Dothan Police Cpl. Maurice “Mac” Eggleston has said police are treating the shooting as an ongoing homicide investigation.
It became the first homicide of the year for the city of Dothan.
