An early morning shooting has left a man in the hospital and two Enterprise Police officers on paid leave.
According to a press release from the Enterprise Police Department, officers responded to a domestic violence call in the 200 block of County Road 124 in Enterprise just after 4 a.m. this morning.
When the officers approached the front door of the trailer, a man swung the door open and pointed a handgun at them, according to the press release.
The officers fired at the man, striking him twice in the hip.
Enterprise Police Sgt. Billy Haglund said the man is out of surgery and currently in the intensive care unit of an area hospital.
Charges are pending, according to the release.
One of the responding officers suffered a minor elbow wound unrelated to the shooting, but otherwise they were unharmed.
Both officers have been placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation.
Haglund said an update will be provided early in the week, but that the shooting victim's name is currently being withheld pending the investigation.
