Midwives to be celebrated

The Alabama Birth Coalition is having its 5th Annual Miles for Midwives fundraiser in 14 different locations across the state on Nov. 16. This event is intended to raise support for access to Certified Professional Midwives in Alabama.

The Dothan event is being held at Walton Park (122 Walton Park Dr.) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This is a free family event and there will be live music by David Rueve, free door prize drawings and goodie bags, an optional walk, a bounce house, face painting, a Dothan Police Department Car Seat Check, Community Watch kids' fingerprinting, speakers on several childbirth topics, an expo of local organizations and businesses and more.

Registration/shirt pick-up begins at 11 a.m. in the gym, optional walk at 11:45, speakers presenting 12:45-1:30 in the gym immediately followed by door prize drawings. For more information, visit www.alabamabirthcoalition.org.
