^LIFE-DIY-RAPE-KITS-CONDEMNED:FL—<When Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody issued a warning about at-home sexual assault kits, some may have been left scratching their head. Just what are these kits? Are they that pervasive to warrant such a public condemnation by the state?

So far, the kits have been promoted by at least two companies, MeToo Kit and PRESERVEkit, who say their products are a do-it-yourself way for sexual assault victims to collect an attacker's DNA without going through the forensic examination and evidence collection normally done at a hospital.

^LIFE-WWII-NURSE-HEROES:HC—<The Cadet Nurse Corps operated from 1943 to 1948, when the country worried about a shortage of nurses. The nurses, the vast majority of them women, served in war hospitals overseas and in civilian hospitals in the U.S. The nurses who served in the country filled a massive need — by the end of World War II, it's estimated that 80% of civilian nurses were cadet nurses.

But unlike their male counterparts, cadet nurses such as Johnson and Walker have never been recognized as veterans.

^Hep-C infected kidneys do as well as uninfected organs after transplant, study finds<

^HEALTH-HEP-C-INFECTED-KIDNEYS-TRANSPLANT:PH—<A new Penn Medicine study of data from the national transplant registry found that kidneys from donors with the hepatitis C virus functioned just as well as uninfected kidneys during the year after transplant.

The analysis of data from between April 2015 and March 2019 was published recently in the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.

"The way we use kidneys has taken a 180-degree turn," said Vishnu Potluri, a nephrology fellow at the University of Pennsylvania and the study's lead author.
