Enterprise High School boys and girls took care of business Tuesday night against Smiths Station in the first round of the Class 7A Alabama High School Athletic Association Soccer State Championships.
Enterprise hosted the Panthers at Wildcat Stadium where the Wildcats (12-5-4) won 6-0, and the Lady Wildcats (15-3-1) earned a 4-1 victory.
Both teams will face Auburn High School in the second round on the road on Friday. The Lady Wildcats will play at 5 p.m., and the Wildcats at 7 p.m.
The teams each have one regular-season meeting with Auburn, with the boys losing 3-0 on Feb. 28 and the girls falling 2-1 on April 15.
For Enterprise, two players -- Sebastian Guerrero and Sam Mazariegos -- scored two goals apiece in a dominating effort over the Panthers.
The Wildcats got their opening goal with 32:29 remaining in the first half. Hunter Perry split two defenders and sent a pass to Guerrero, who capitalized on the opportunity to score the first of his two goals.
Minutes later, the aggressive Wildcats went for blood again and nearly found it, but Mazariegos barely missed to the left on his shot.
His next attempt, on a pass from Guerrero, was true. Smith Station’s goalie left the box and Mazariegos made him pay, slicing the ball low and just out his reach to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Enterprise cruised to victory from there, scoring three goals -- from Rasheed Bolaji, Guerrero and Mazariegos -- in the opening eight minutes of the second half.
Perry scored the final goal for the Wildcats.
Sydney Garth pulled off a hat trick and assisted on another goal to help elevate the Lady Wildcats to victory over Smiths Station.
She scored the only goal of the first half on an assist from Amber Patch with 19:55 on the clock.
Corinna Jones scored the next goal on an assist from Garth six minutes into the second half.
With 12:15 on the clock, Smiths Station had a chance to get back in the game but the Lady Panthers were turned away by Enterprise and goalie Maggie Bryan.
Garth scored again at the 9:35 mark. After having her initial shot turned away, she repositioned herself and fired a ball that slid under the Smiths Station goalie.
At the 7:59 mark, Garth earned her final score on a well-placed pass in front of the goal from Morgan Harrelson.
