Enterprise tennis wins final home game

Enterprise’s Grace Heim keeps her concentration during doubles competition against Carroll on Tuesday.

Both the Enterprise Wildcats and Lady Wildcats teams cruised to decisive victories in their final regular season home tennis games against Carroll.

The Wildcats (6-3) won 7-2, and the Lady Wildcats (8-1) earned an 8-1 win.

In singles action for the Wildcats, five players picked up victories. Alex Nelson won 8-0, while Evan Stewart and Mitchell Carr earned 8-1 and 8-2 wins, respectively. Connor Morriss picked up an 8-4 win and Cameron Emerson won 8-6.

Brian Climer was the lone Wildcat who fell in singles play.

In doubles action, Nelson and Carr grabbed an 8-3 win and Stewart and Morriss won 8-2. The duo of Emerson and Climer lost 8-5.

The Lady Wildcats swept Carroll in singles play, with Riley Stewart, Alexis Sanders and Katie Nelson all picking up 8-5 wins. Mary Rives Marques won 8-4, while Grace Heim won 8-3 and Hais Kokoszka scored an 8-1 victory.

In doubles play, the tandem of Marques and Stewart earned an 8-4 win, and the Sanders and Heim duo picked up an 8-2 victory.

The only loss for the girls came when Nelson and Kokoska were defeated 8-5.

Enterprise will play its final regular season match today on the road against Dothan, starting at 3:30 p.m.

The EHS teams will travel to sectionals in Alexander City April 15-16.
