Ten young ladies of the 12 committing to Enterprise State Community College in this signing period, signed softball scholarships with parents, family members, coaches and friends, as well as ESCC administrators, coaches and members of the 2013 Weevil Women on hand Thursday morning.
“We want to welcome all these players and their parents to the ESCC family,” said veteran ESCC coach King Jones. “We are excited to have these 12 girls in our program for the next two years.”
Signing Thursday were:
Brooke Marie Hammonds – First base, third base, outfield; Elba High School, played at Florala before tearing an ACL and was not able to play ball last year at Elba.
She is a strong athlete and the following demonstrates this:
In volleyball, elected to the 2010 Elite Eight; won the 2011-12 MVP Award.
In basketball, she was 2008-09 MVP, 2009-10 All-Tournament team, and 2011-12 Top Rebounder
She has been EHS Ambassador two years; Children’s Ministry five years, and Student Council member two years.
“A diverse student/athlete, Brooke is going to be a valued member of the ESCC softball team,” Jones said. She is the daughter of Roger and Lachia Hammonds.
Kayla Amanda Mallory – Catcher; Elba High School where she has been on the varsity for six years; has played summer ball with Southern Extreme.
Named to the Pea River Valley All-Conference Team
Senior Class Vice President, Student Council Representative and Senior Beta Chairperson
Honor Student, EHS Ambassador, and former member of Coffee County Youth Leadership Program.
“Mandy is a well-rounded young lady who will be a valuable asset to our team,” Jones said.
She is the daughter of Charles Mallory and Glenda Sanders.
Emily Alicia Mock – Catcher, first base; Kinston High School. “She is a power hitter who will fit in well with our team,” Jones said.

“We are very excited to have our ace pitcher Sarah Mock’s ‘little’ sister come play with us next year!” Jones said. “Emily is a great catcher that no one is going to run on, and she brings serious offense with her bat.”
She is the daughter of Randy and Diana Mock.
Bianca Tate Adkison – Catcher, utility; St. Clair High School in Odenville where she has been All-Area four consecutive years.
Captain of her team and was the RBI leader for the past two seasons.
Plays with Elite Lady Sox Travel Team in Dothan in summer and fall.
“Like many high school teams where a coaching staff change occurred, players’ stats were lost in the shuffle, but Bianca is an exceptional player and we are very happy to have her come to play at ESCC,” Jones said.
Jessica Kaitlyn Chapa – Catcher, first base, outfield; Saks High School in Anniston; batted .378 in 2012.
• Played with Diamond Force Travel Ball Team during the last six years, summer and fall.
• Honor Roll Student and member of Spanish Club, and
– Manager of the wrestling and basketball teams
– Freshman Homecoming Representative

“Another well round student, we look forward to Jessica joining the ESCC softball team in the fall,” Jones said.
Ashley Nicole Copeland – Pitcher, catcher, first base; Pleasant Home High School, near Andalusia; varsity softball player since eighth grade.
“As the team’s catcher, she helped Pleasant Home finish second in the state last season and was selected to the All-Tournament team at the State Tournament,” Jones noted.
In 2012, she had a .409 batting average and 21 RBI’s, and a 1.40 ERA as a pitcher.
“Such a versatile player is going to be a great addition to the ESCC softball team,” Jones explained. “And we are really glad Ashley decided to join our team.”
Abigail Ruth Kelley – Outfield; Pleasant Home High School. “She has years of experience at all outfield positions, and has done well in softball and volleyball,” Jones said.

Anniston Star Diamond Dazzler
Varsity softball player four years; had team’s highest batting average her junior year (.387)
• Won Hustle Award as a junior
• Four years varsity volleyball player
Other activities included: Spanish Club Secretary, Diamond Dazzler (baseball manager), Matt Maid (wrestling manager), active member in First Baptist Church of Saks Youth Group, volunteer at NHC, and Alexandria Elementary School for three summers working with little children, and volunteered one summer at a special needs camp
“Obviously a very well rounded young lady, we are excited to have Kelly come to ESCC and join our team,” Jones said.
Anna Rose Lee – First base, third base, catcher, outfield; Eastpoint, Fla., attends Franklin County High School.
Winner of the Defensive Player of the Year, she maintained a .925 fielding percentage last season.
She is a .350 hitter with home run power; should help our offensive efforts.

An excellent student, Anna is a mentor at Franklin County.
“We are certainly looking forward to Anna coming to play with ESCC next fall,” Jones said.
Donna Annette Prather – First base, third base, catcher, outfield; Leon High School, Tallahassee, Fla.
Carried a Heat Elite batting average of .475 and Leon High School overall batting average of .390
Won several awards in both softball and volleyball. These include, but are not limited to:

“Annette is also an Honor Student and a varsity weightlifter,” Jones said. ”We are certainly excited to have such a strong athlete join our team.”
The two athletes unable to attend signing ceremonies were:
Haley Nicole McKinney – First base, third base. “She graduated from Slocomb High School in 2012 and decided to try Judson College, but luckily for us, she decided to return home and play with us,” Jones explained.

Breanna Carol Larue – Outfielder; Fyffe High School in Fort Payne.
An extremely talented outfielder who swings a strong bat as well.
She has been:
All-Area, All-County (twice), ASWA All-State in 2012
Fyffe High School Most Athletic Player.
Helped team to fourth-place finish in State Regional’s and second-place area finish.
Carried a .462 batting average with 15 doubles, three triples and a home run.
“Breanna is a premier outfielder who is going to make a big impact with the ESCC softball team,” Jones noted.
“We are extremely proud of these signees and for their parents and brothers and sisters who are now part of the Enterprise State family,” Jones concluded.
