Close to a win wasn’t what the Enterprise High School Wildcats wanted in their first boy’s golf match of the 2020 season; the Wildcats finished second to Hoover’s Buccaneers by a single stroke, 312-313.

Playing in the Prattville Christian Academy Tournament, contested at the rugged RTJ Capitol Hill Golf Course, Enterprise was led by Gibson Charlton’s 76.

Brady Wood and Nick Cook had matching 78’s and Jon Ed Steed had an 81 for Enterprise.

In a non-counting score, Bryant Burns had a 92.

Playing as individuals, Jackson Bailey tied for second place with a 72 and Hunter McCarty had an 86.

“It was a good opening tournament for the team after a rainout last week,” said EHS coach Rex Bynum. “We got solid performances from our Top 3 players and very good play from seventh-grader Jon Ed Sneed in his first high school tournament!

“Jackson Bailey set a personal best tournament score with the even par 72 after having preseason qualified in the seventh position.”
