Enterprise High School’s Emilia Smith fired a one-under par 71 on Fort Rucker’s Silver Wings Golf Course Tuesday to win medalist honors and lead the Lady Wildcats to a second-place finish in the Wildcat Invitational; Enterprise shot 247 behind Providence Christian’s 233.
Ashley-Sinclair Curtis shot a solid 77; Emily Yerman had a 99; and Katie Smith took a 101 for Enterprise.
A smiling Rex Bynum, Enterprise coach, was also pleased with the EHS junior varsity squad - Miyeko Marden (109), Hailey Rotenberry (117), Isabella Holts (112) and Mia Archibald (122) - that made its first showing.
On Monday, the Enterprise boys finished tied for fifth in the 13-team Auburn Invitational played at Moore’s Mill.
Auburn High School’s three varsity teams claimed the top three places in the prestigious event; Benjamin Russell was fourth; Enterprise’s varsity and Auburn’s jayvee team both shot 330.
“The team score of 330 was the highest of the year, so I was not pleased with that,” Bynum said. “However, our players were just back from spring break and playing on a tough venue may have contributed to the high score.”
Jackson Bailey fired a 79 to lead the Wildcats, with Ben Brady (82), Ben Francisco (83) and Gibson Charlton (86) contributing to the team’s 330 score. Bryant Burns had an 89 to complete varsity scoring.
Bailey, who tied for 13th individually, made the junior high all-tournament team.
Enterprise’s jayvee team finished 11th in the one-day event.
Aiden Castleberry (85), Brayden Green (102), Blake Chappell (103) and Hunter McCarty (108) combined for Enterprise’s 398 total.
“There is work to be done before the sectional tournament on April 29,” Bynum said.
