This year's 4th of July celebration in Eufaula will have live special performances by Rick Craven and Ricky Gunn, a children's parade, Snow cones, food vendors, children’s games, bouncy houses, a train (new) and more. Also, the city plans a great fireworks show.
The Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display will be held on Thursday, July 4, at Lakepoint State Park at the Marina. A committee comprised of the Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department, City of Eufaula department heads, Lakepoint staff and volunteers have worked all year for the event. As usual, there will be a big fireworks display, but the point of shooting has changed. Visitors are asked to watch for parking signs as they enter the park. Personal fireworks are illegal there.
The year’s feature entertainer, Gunn, was born and raised outside of Columbus, Georgia. A songwriter and singer, Gunn's award-winning voice won him back-to-back awards from the Georgia Music awards in 2011 and 2012. He has opened for country stars such as Travis Tritt, Tyler Farr and Gary Allan and recorded at the world-famous Blackbird Studio in Nashville. At the end of the day, Gunn's supporters have started to swell, thanks to Gunn's combination of throwback styles and contemporary sounds.
