Scouts tour U.S.S. Alabama

Cub Scouts Pack 6 of Eufaula enjoyed visiting the U.S.S. Alabama.

On June 1, Cub Scouts Pack 6 of Eufaula spent the night living aboard the U.S.S. Alabama. Pack members learned the history of the World War II “battlewagon” as well as the submarine U.S.S. Drum, which ranked 8th among all U.S. Navy subs for the amount of enemy shipping tonnage it sank.

In addition, pack members saw more than 20 aircraft and a large assortment of Army and Marine Corp tanks, artillery and other combat vehicles.

This trip has enabled Pack 6 members to better understand and appreciate the contributions made by military personnel in times of conflict when America’s basic values of liberty and freedom were threatened.

The group would like to thank Lewis Martin and Michelle Puckett for their leadership of Pack 6.
