Nov. 29, 1954 — William H. Robertson, considered one of the leading young businessmen of Barbour County, dies when his Pilot Cub plane crashed 6 miles southwest of Clayton. He was a former mayor of Clayton as well as a member of the Clayton Board of Education.

60 Years Ago

Nov. 26, 1959 — Eufaula High center James Booth is named one of the top 20 prep basketball players in the nation and a preseason All-American by Dell Sports Magazine.

Nov. 24, 1964 — A.W. Buchanan announces that he will be retiring as head football coach of the Eufaula Tigers at the end of the year.

40 Years Ago

Nov. 24, 1979 — Kenny Williamson leads Dixie Academy with 35 points in a 64-46 victory over Lakeside in the finals of the Lakeside Round Robin Tournament. Lakeside wins the girls’ final over Dixie Academy, 49-37, behind the offensive prowess of Ann Foy.
