Funeral services for Mr. Walter Emory Broome, Sr., age 89, of Eufaula, Al., will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eufaula, burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Dr. Ken Bush will officiate with Kent Funeral Home of Eufaula directing. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Broome passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Medical Center Barbour in Eufaula. Born February 16, 1929, in Georgia, Mr. Broome was the son of the late Mr. John Howard and Ailleen Smith Broome. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Carole Broome, three brothers, one sister and one stepbrother. Mr. Broome was an amazing man, who loved his family. He enjoyed traveling, square dancing, and line dancing. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Eufaula. He loved to garden and in his younger days, he loved to fish. Mr. Broome was an Army veteran in the Korean War. He retired from Meade after a lifelong career in maintenance. Mr. Broome is survived by his loving wife, Mable T. Broome, Eufaula; three sons, Emory (Lee) Broome Jr., Eufaula, Max (Robin) Broome, Kingsport TN, Phillip (April) Broome, Arvada, CO.; two stepsons, Shug Roland, Clayton, Bo Roland, Clayton; two stepdaughters, Nancy Stephenson, Prattville, Shirley Adams, Union Springs; two stepbrothers, Don Broome, Albany, GA., Tommy Broome, GA., and seven grandchildren, Jonathan Broome, Amanda Broome, Randall Broome, Nickolas Broome, Grace Broome, Melodie Broome, and Camille Broome. Asked to serve as pallbearers are Bo Roland, Shug Roland, Nickolas Broome, Johnny Adams, Mark Stephenson, and Philip Stephenson.
