Frances Elizabeth Bowden Griffin, 91, of Eufaula, Alabama, died Fri day, May 31, 2019, at her residence. Graveside services were held Monday, June 3, 2019, at 11 A.M., in Fairview Cemetery Addition. The Pastor Greg Voorhees officiated with Chapman Funeral Home directing. Born February 9, 1928 in Clayton, Alabama, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Locke and Florence Greene Bowden and the step-daughter of the late Florence Ketchum Bowden. Frances graduated from Clayton High School where she finished her education in 11 years. She was married to Barbour County Commissioner, the late Marvin O'Neal Griffin for over 50 years. She and her husband owned and operated the Standard Oil Station at the intersection of Dale Road and U.S. Highway 431 for over 25 years. Frances was a charter member of Friendship Presbyterian Church. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ramona Bowden Smith, her brothers Brunson Bowden and William Bowden and her step-brother George Smoot. Survivors include her son: Richard Neal (Margaret) Griffin of Eufaula, Alabama; her granddaughter: Jennifer Griffin-Barron of Eufaula, Alabama; her grandson: Joshua Ryan Griffin of Dothan, Alabama; 2 great grandsons: Tyler Bowden and Cody Barron; 1 step-brother: Joe (Bobbie) Smoot of Eufaula, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Gideons or to Encompass Health-Hospice, 3230 Ross Clark Circle, Suite 1, Dothan, Alabama 36303.
