Phillip Lee Pate, of Spring Hill, passed away at his home on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Phillip was born on the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, North Carolina on September 18, 1962. He was preceded in death by his parents Alvin Durr Pate, Jr. and Glenda Ruth Walton Pate and his sister Debbi Pate Nelson. His survivors include his wife Lara Booth, his brother Alvin Durr Pate, III., his two sons Phillip Brandon (Jessie) Pate and John Everett Scoutt (Dana) Pate, his daughter Macye Angela Pate, and four grandchildren. Phillip graduated from Opelika High School in 1980. After which he joined the United States National Guard on November 9, 1981. He served eight years and enlisted as a field artillery surveyor and learned his lifelong passion of land surveying. Upon his honorable discharge, he continued his profession in the private sector until his death. Among the many activities he enjoyed, he loved playing golf, watching Alabama football, collecting vintage signs and antique glass bottles. Most of all he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Funeral services for Phillip were held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Chapman Funeral Home Chapel and the burial followed at Spring Hill Methodist Church Cemetery with Dr. Matt Helms officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Colton Pate, Cecil Trammell, Lee Trammell, Clyde Pate, Jr., Joey Bell, Isaac Butler, Mitch Lee, Richard Warren. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
