GULF SHORES – Eufaula tallied four first-inning runs to take a 4-2 lead over host Gulf Shores, but the Tigers were unable to hold on and saw their season in in the third round of the Class 6A South Regional with a 9-6 loss to Gulf Shores.
Todd Clements’ Tigers had eight hits in the loss.
Catherine Nolin singled on a 1-2 count in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs.
Gulf Shores took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning.
Carly Puckett took the loss for Eufaula, going five innings, allowing seven hits and five runs while striking out two. Harley Smith started the game for Eufaula. She went two innings, allowing four runs on five hits, striking out one and walking zero
Carley Clark and Emily Trammell had two hits each for the Tigers.
GULF SHORES -- Eufaula erased an early deficit with a six-run second inning en route to an 11-1 thumping of Carver Montgomery in an elimination game at the Class 6A South Regional Softball Tournament on Friday.
Eufaula had RBI’s in the second inning from Shanaya Collins (2), Carley Clark, Carly Puckett, Sydney Wiggins and Catherine Nolin. Carver opened up scoring in the first inning. An error scored one run for Carver.
Collins singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Puckett drew a walk, later scoring. Nolin also drew a walk and later scored, as did Collins.
Puckett pitched Eufaula to victory, lasting five innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out eight and walking none.
Eufaula tallied 13 hits in the game. Harley Smith, Brooke Tew, Collins, Clark, and Puckett all had tw hits for the Tigers.
Spanish Fort 12,
GULF SHORES -- Spanish Fort ace Ainsley Lambert pitched a five-inning perfect game and struck out 11 as the Toros blanked Eufaula in the first round of the Class 6A South Regional on May 9.
Lambert was also 4-for-4 with two doubles and four runs batted in to lead Spanish Fort.
Eufaula committed six errors, leading to four unearned runs.
Eufaula plays Carver of Montgomery in its next game.
