Ed Rigby

The Eufaula Tigers will close out their 10 allotted spring practices with a spring game Thursday at defending Class 7A state champion Central Phenix City.

The game will be held at Garrett-Harrison Stadium, site of last year’s spring game that was cut short due to inclement weather.

Eufaula was 5-6 in Ed Rigby’s first season at the helm and the school’s first venture into Class 6A, but the Tigers did qualify for the state playoffs. Central was 14-0 last season, recording six shutouts along the way. The Red Devils of head coach Jamey DuBose crushed Thompson, 52-7, in the 7A championship game at Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Kickoff Thursday is set for 6 p.m. CST.

A special Eufaula Coach’s Luncheon will be held Wednesday at noon at River City Grill. The $10 buffet will include a wrap-up of spring so far from EHS head coach/athletic director Rigby, as well as Eufaula City Schools Superintendent Joey Brannan and EHS Principal Sean Clark. There will also be door prizes.
