A Cottondale woman is accused of battery causing bodily harm in a domestic incident Thursday, according to an official with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

Christine Mears, 52, was taken to the Jackson County jail to await first appearance on the charge after her arrest.

Authorities say a deputy was dispatched to a Bethlehem Road home that day and found a county emergency medical crew treating someone for a laceration that was reportedly caused during an altercation with Mears.

Mears acknowledged to a law enforcement officer that she’d struck the individual, officials say, adding that the victim’s wound was serious and necessitated several stitches.
