The Marianna Police Department has announced in a press release the arrest of Dontreal Cheaunca Pittman, 21, on charges of grand theft of a firearm; possession of marijuana with intent to sell; and carrying a concealed weapon.
On Sunday, June 2, officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Pittman for driving at night time with no headlights on, the release states.
“A probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted due to the odor of marijuana,” the release continued. “Prior to the search of the vehicle Pittman admitted to having a firearm in the vehicle. Officers recovered and secured the firearm. During the search of the vehicle a large amount of marijuana was recovered along with items used in the sale of narcotics. During the course of the traffic stop it was learned that the firearm recovered from the vehicle was stolen. Pittman was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility,” the release stated.
