The Marianna Police Department has arrested several individuals in connection with a months-long undercover operation combating the illegal distribution of prescription narcotics within the city limits of Marianna, according to a press release from the agency.
During the “Operation Spring Opioid Round-Up,” officials say, investigators uncovered an organized distribution ring of prescription narcotics. Investigators have obtained arrest warrants on individuals reportedly discovered to have been illegally trafficking and distributing prescription narcotics to include Hydrocodone and Alprazolam (Xanax), authorities say.
Officials report that, throughout the course of the investigation, investigators focused their attention on Patricia Merrill of Fountain. Investigators say Merrill was distributing prescription narcotics to individuals in the city of Marianna for the purpose of sale. Investigators say that this had been occurring for several years. Merrill was reportedly responsible for the distribution of nearly 1600 hydrocodone pills and 900 Alprazolam (Xanax) pills. Warrants for Merrill were obtained and officials say she was charged with 13 counts of conspiracy to trafficking in Hydrocodone, 10 counts of conspiracy to possession with intent to sell Alprazolam (Xanax), sale of a controlled substance w/ 1000ft of a church (Methadone), and possession with intent to sell (Methadone). Merrill was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility on $1,185,000.00 bond.
Investigators also conducted another undercover operation where two other individuals reportedly responsible for the distribution of prescription narcotics within Marianna were arrested.
Ruth Murdock of Cottondale was reportedly found to be in possession of sixty Alprazolam (Xanax) tablets. Murdock was arrested and charged with possession of controlled substance (Alprazolam), officials say.
Also arrested was Nathan Conrad of Marianna. Conrad was found to be in possession of two different types of Alprazolam and Morphine pills, officials report. Conrad was charged with possession of controlled substance (Alprazolam)-two counts, possession of controlled substance (Morphine), and sale of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a church (Morphine). Both subjects were booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
Further undercover operations resulted in investigators obtaining a warrant against Leonard Redmon of Marianna, officials say. Redmon was charged with the sale of a controlled substance (Hydrocodone) within 1,000 feet of a church and booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility.
