A Thursday-evening dog attack in Jackson County is under investigation, with two individuals air-lifted for treatment of serious injures they suffered in the incident.
According to a press release from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Caron Harris, 65, and 63-year-old William Harris, were both taken by medical helicopter from the location of the incident, 5031 Damascus Church Road. Also taken to the hospital in a private vehicle was an individual who was bitten by one or more of the dogs while riding by the area on an ATV. Authorities did not provide that person’s name.
The attack, authorities say, happened at the home of Barry Harris, who is the son of Caron Harris and the uncle of William Harris.
Authorities were called to the scene around 6:45 p.m., with JCSO officers joined there by EMS as well as animal control personnel, who were able to get the dogs under control. Authorities did not say to whom the animals belong and did not identify them by breed.
Officials noted that the injuries to Caron and William Harris were extensive and that the incident is still under investigation.
