In an agricultural community, some of the best resources available are assets we take for granted. Anna Manzella, owner of Finding Joy Scrubs LLC, understands how to develop assets that give back to others.

Anna was a hospice nurse for more than 30 year in Cooper City. In 2014, Anna found herself beaten down by life.

“My doctor told me you have to find something that brings you joy,” Anna explained. This advice led Anna to studying the properties of essential oils. Soon she was creating sugar scrubs and therapy sprays. Then, she began making soaps.

In 2017, Anna and her family were in the area, planning to purchase some property in Bonifay. After spending a week in Holmes County, the deal fell through. Anna’s family set out in their RV, but with a malfunctioning GPS system soon found themselves lost in Marianna.

“We fell in love with Marianna when the rental car salesman wished us a Happy Easter,” Anna said. “No one ever said anything like that where we lived.” So, the family purchased land in Marianna and began settling in.

As it turns out the creation of soap with Anna is a science of combing percentages of hard and soft oils to create varying combinations of bubbliness, conditioning, softening, cleansing and hardness (how long the soap lasts). The fatty acid profile helps her to figure out what is beneficial for your skin. She builds and prays over her recipes that they might be beneficial for the recipients. Anna is selective in where she purchases her oil. The majority of her organic essential oils come from Ananda Apothecary and Mount Rose Herbs. Although she has already made about 50 different types of soaps, she can create specialty soaps based on the customer’s request. “I enjoy helping people and I’m a big advocate of natural foods,” Anna added.

Recently, Anna decided to change the name of her company to the Marianna Soap Company, because of her love for the community. To contact Anna about a gift basket or soap, call 954-806-2838.
