Catherine McElroy celebrated her 107th birthday with a party at Pope Chapel last weekend, and niece Emma Alaba said it was a big success.
“The party was a blast,” she said is an email about the event.
“Family and friends came from far and near. (There were) lots of ‘Memory Lane’ stories about my Auntie that would make you pass out laughing. One family member gave her money based on her age. Her reply: ‘I thought I was older than that!’ It seems she has always had a sense of humor.
“We had several of her favorite foods. One was frog legs. By the end of the party, everyone loved frog legs. The service was heavenly, the food very tasty, and the cake was delightful. The party lasted four hours and Auntie was still smiling and eating. This was the best party ever. We all felt the love – young and old. We are so blessed.”
