One of the great aspects of living in a rural southern community is the hometown charm and virtuous businesses available around every corner.

McCoy’s Outdoors, which now includes Mustard Seed Gifts and Boutique, takes this concept to a new level with their upcoming e-commerce addition.

“It’s going to be huge” and have “thousands of items,” owner Tim McCoy explained with excitement. The new website is expected to go live by the middle of July and will later expand to include the Mustard Seed Gifts and Boutique. It is expected to have everything a shopper can find in the store, plus more.

Owners Tim and Suzette McCoy are hometown people wishing to make a huge difference in their community. The couple grew up as friends and started dating in high school. The majority of the nearly 30 years they have been married, the couple has been looking for ways to serve the public.

The store was purchase by Tim’s father, Troy McCoy in 1976. Tim and Suzette took ownership in January 2002. Over the past 16 years, the gas station, bait and convenience store grew to include fire arms, ammo and accessories. Tim and his staff are ready to assist patrons in finding the best fit for their firearm needs. While you are enjoying an old-fashioned “Icee,” shop from a large selection of knives and more than 15 lines of archery products. Then, learn tips on use and safety from the staff. Their outdoor apparel is not limited to camouflage items. They offer men’s clothing items by Drake, Under Armour, HUK and Columbia. All types of boots are available, including hunting, western and dress boots. Shoppers can also find all their pet and livestock feed supplies, including salt blocks. Plus, once a month, the store offers concealed weapons training classes. For customers going on a fishing trip, Tim still has bait and fishing supplies ready when you walk in the door.

In 2016, Mustard Seed Gifts and Boutique was added for women, children and home décor. The name was taken from the mustard seed parable reference found in Matthew 17:20 of the Bible, which states, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed . . . [n]othing will be impossible for you” (NIV). This was the faith Suzette claimed as she created the newest department of the store, which, according to Tim, has also been the “fastest growing department.” Suzette explained that the women visiting McCoy’s Outdoors with their husbands and boyfriends wanted to be able to shop, too. Suzette added children’s and women’s shoes and clothing, including “curvy girl” sizes. Some of the brands carried are Simply Southern, Southern Marsh and Southern Couture. While camouflage clothing is available for sizes ranging from infants to adults, other fashionable apparel is also offered. The ladies’ and children’s sandals, dress shoes and boots are a popular choice. Be sure to take a look at the concealed carry purses, Ermish Jewelry, and sun glasses by Coasta and Oakley.

Suzette also included a home décor section featuring Paula Deen, Mudpie and Farmhouse items, as well as Swan and Country candles. One of the most recent additions is the Dixie Belle Paint Company chalk paint used for painting furniture. While shopping, sign up for classes where Suzette teaches customers how to use the paint. Nearly everything in the store can be personalized, including the very popular Yeti items. Plus the store offers a gift registry and personalized gift baskets.

McCoy’s Outdoors is the winner of many awards, including the 2017 Best of Jackson, Washington and Holmes County Outdoor Businesses, and recently was selected from the 21-county region in North Florida for the coveted 2018 Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics.
