A Marianna man is receiving treatment for the serious injuries he apparently suffered when he came in contact with a passing train Thursday afternoon, near Orange Street, according to a press release issued Friday morning by the Marianna Police Department.
Authorities identified the injured man as Gregory Brooks. As of shortly after 11 a.m. Friday he was still under the care of medical teams at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Officers were called to the scene around 2:28 p.m. Thursday and found Brooks underneath the then-stopped train.
Marianna Fire and Rescue and Jackson County Fire and Rescue arrived on scene within minutes and began rendering aid to the man. They were able to remove him from underneath the train, officials say. He was then taken to TMH by helicopter.
This incident is an active investigation and details will be released at a later time, officials said.
