Salon La Vie owner Necia Brock, a hometown girl, wife and mother of four children, says she’s “always wanted to style hair and make others feel beautiful.”

Since graduating from Chipola College, she has spent more than 18 years fulfilling her dream.

“I love to give my clients confidence in how they feel about themselves” and “that’s the best part to me,” Brock joyfully reflected. “My clients are my family,” she added.

Walking into the shop, the first thing clients are greeted by is a message printed on the wall: “préparez-vous à avoir l’air incroyable,” which translates to “get ready to look incredible.”

A glimpse in the salon reveals the joy and family customers are able to experience as they escape their everyday problems. The patrons delight in one another, while Brock and her staff pamper them. Yet, clients seem to receive a little more than a new hairdo. They walk out feeling amazing about themselves.

According to Brock, she has seen many trends come and go and she is “always learning new techniques and styles.” It was common for women to request “chunky colors” and a “flat iron” straight style in the early 2000s, explained Brock. However, now many women prefer a “balayage color, which is a French coloring technique for a more natural look, and a wavy or messy style,” added Brock. She also said silver and grey colors are popular now.

Brock along with stylists Jennifer Davis and Courtney Bass are dedicated to providing the best experience for each customer who walks through the door.

The salon offers Brazilian blowouts, extensions, color treatments, highlights, cuts, styles and waxing. Brock and her staff also enjoy transforming their clients’ hair and makeup prior to special occasions. The salon carries Paul Mitchell, Pureology, Redkin, Sexy Hair and Bed Head products. Brock recently added Fake Bake sunless tanning products to her line. Beautiful, local, custom-made jewelry is on display for sale to compliment every outfit.
