Remember the days when customers shopped from one jewelry store to another to select the perfect engagement ring and wedding bands?

Those days have come and gone. Chuck and Cindy Smith have taken their business into the future with custom designed jewelry.

Over the past 13 years, they have been creating jewelry with a computer-aided design (CAD) program that was recently updated to better serve customers. The program allows customers to select metals, metal thicknesses, stones, stone shapes, settings and even add new elements to create a piece of jewelry that is unique for them. After the design, the customer can see the jewelry prior to making a decision. If the customer has a photo, the software can assist in the creation of a new piece of jewelry specifically designed for the customer. While this design service might be available on the Internet, whenever someone goes through the Smith and Smith Jewelers design process, they can easily go back for questions, concerns, cleanings, repairs and restoration. Smith and Smith Jewelers provides personal assistance to help consumers make the best choice.

The couple has been working in the jewelry business since the 1970s. At one time, they worked for Terry’s Fine Jewelry in Marianna. They lived in North Carolina for about 12 years, before moving back to be near their family and raise their children in Marianna. The Smiths opened their business at 4432 Lafayette Street in 1995 and have been a genuine asset to the community. Chuck, a goldsmith with specialized training in repair and design, and Cindy, a gemologist with a second degree in marketing, work closely together to create, repair, restore, appraise and sell jewelry that meets the needs of the community.

For those looking for jewelry from Gabriel & Co. of New York, look no further. The Smiths have these beautiful pieces on hand. “We have sold a tremendous amount of engagement rings and wedding bands” from this “Christian company,” explained Cindy. The jewelry is “well made and designed.” In fact, Cindy continued, “the entire piece of jewelry is designed including front, back, side, gallery and clasps.”
