Marianna High School softball standouts Deana Holland and Chloe Temples both signed with Division 1 schools Wednesday.
It was a historic date for the softball program.
While MHS softball players had moved on to be D1 programs from junior college programs in the past, this was the first time that Lady Bulldogs have gone directly to a D1 school.
Holland will be heading to Alabama State to play second while Chloe Temples is heading to the pitcher’s mound at Stetson University.
MHS Softball Coach Scott Wiggins said they were both awesome players and students and that he had been blessed to coach them.
“They are both players you can only dream of having on your team.”
The two have been starters on the varsity squad since their freshmen year. In that time they have notched two district championships and more than 60 wins.
