The Indians were overthrown by the Gordon State Highlanders 7-1 at home Thursday.
The Highlanders took control of the game in the first inning by scoring four runs and keeping Chipola off the board.
The second, third, and fourth innings were essentially stalemates as Chipola’s defense kept the Highlanders locked down, but the Indians’ offense struggled to make any headway.
In the fifth, the Highlanders scored three more runs, but Chipola was able to bring in one of their own.
Alex Araus got a single and then he headed to second when Corey Rosier was hit by a ball. A wild pitch against Connor Kehl got Araus to third and he scored on a groundout by Jordan Anderson.
The Highlanders were up 7-1 and both teams struggled unsuccessfully for the rest of the game to change that score.
Gordon State took the win.
Chipola will be at home this weekend for games against Columbia State Community College at 4 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday.
