The Chipola Indians scored a win over the Northwest Florida State College Raiders by the narrowest of margins Saturday night.
The first half was a 20-minute battle that left the Indians up 40-39. Keep your eye on that one point lead. It going to be important, because the second half ended in a 43-43 tie, and that one point won the game for the Indians.
Kelshawn Brewton was the Indians’ high scorer with 30. Malik Zachery had 18.
Chipola is 7-3 in conference play.
The Lady Indians lost their matchup 71-53.
In the first quarter, the Lady Raiders took a 13-8 lead, but Chipola was able to rally its forces in the second to keep the game close.
Northwest was up 24-20 as the game entered the second half, but a 29 surge by the Raiders pushed that score to 53-36 by the end of the third.
Chipola rallied again, but the best they could do was nearly match Northwest scoring the fourth.
Valerie Nesbitt was the Lady Indians, high scorer with 25.
The loss makes the Lady Indians 5-5 in conference play.
Chipola’s final home games of the season will be against Pensacola this Wednesday. The women’s game will be 5:30 p.m. with the men’s game at 7:30 p.m.
