An annual Independence Day event will be held at Lakepoint Resort State Park in Eufaula starting at 4 p.m. with a children’s parade at 5 p.m. and fireworks at 9 p.m. Rain date will be July 6. Entertainment will be provided by Rick Craven from 4-6 p.m. and Ricky Gunn from 6-9 p.m. The event is hosted by the City of Eufaula, Eufaula Parks and Recreation Department, Lakepoint State Park and Main Street Eufaula.


The Choctawhatchee, Pea and Yellow Rivers Watershed Management Authority will meet at 10 a.m. at the Enterprise Farmers Market, located at 525 N. Main St. The guest speaker will be Kelly Godsey, senior service hydrologist/meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Tallahassee, Florida. The public is invited to attend. Godsey will discuss the importance of the basin-wide Flood Warning System (FWS) gauges located in eight counties in southeast Alabama.


Tew Family Reunion will be held at 11 a.m. in the Texasville Community House near Blue Springs in Barbour County.


Descendants of Joseph Benjamin and Catherine Lavina Gale Baxley will celebrate their 101st Family Reunion from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the East Geneva County Senior Citizen's Center at 134 W. Bateman Ave. in Slocomb. Everyone is encouraged to attend to enjoy a covered dish meal and to fellowship with family and friends.


Alabama Education Retirees Association will hold its annual District 9 meeting on July 17 at the Enterprise City Service Center. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. This will be a very important meeting because health insurance changes will be implemented beginning Jan. 1, 2020. Representatives from PEEHIP, United Healthcare, and Humana will be present to answer any questions from members. For more information, call Susan at 334-389-0622.

Hawk-Houston Youth Enrichment Center is sponsoring a summer Community Health Fair & Screening from 1:30-4:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public and all age groups 5 and older are encouraged to participate. Vendors may call 334-792-4618 to participate. Event will take place at 329 Chickasaw St. in Dothan.


The Alabama Professional Farriers Association and Dothan Boots and Saddle Club will hold a free clinic on the proper care of a horse’s legs and feet. The clinic will begin at 8:30 a.m. at Dothan Boots and Saddle Club, located at 1347 E. Saunders Road. The clinic will involve observing a dissection of a cadaver limb, a live horse shoeing demonstration as well as watching professional farriers from the area as they forge new shoes from a bar of steel.
