JUNE

The Spiritual Enrichment Center of Dothan will host Arts Alive, a series of art exhibits, during the month of June. Each Saturday in June, the chapel will be open as a gallery with work by church members and their families on display. A reception with the artist will be held from 1-4 p.m. with a different artist or artists highlighted each Saturday with the featured artists work remaining on exhibit for the next week. The Spiritual Enrichment Center is located at 942 S. Oates St.

Geneva City Schools will conduct its annual destruction of old special education student records. Records will be destroyed for all former special education students enrolled in Geneva City Schools that were born in the months from September 1992 through August 1993. Former students who want to keep their records may do so by contacting the Coordinator of Special Education Services, Geneva City Schools, 511 Panther Drive, Geneva, AL 36340, 334-684-1090 before June 28. Identification and signed release of information will be required prior to the release of any special education records.

JUNE 12

The Dothan Kiwanis Club will meet at the Dothan Country Club from 11:45 a.m.-1 p.m. Dothan High School Principal Bill Singleton will speak.

The City of Slocomb and the First Baptist Church of Slocomb will be hosting a Community Wide Prayer Service and concert featuring "The Kingsmen" at 6 p.m. The First Baptist Church is located at 225 N. Dalton Street in Slocomb. Everyone is invited to this 31st Annual Tomato Festival event honoring local farmers. For more information, please call 334-886-2955

JUNE 13

Best-selling author Mary Alice Monroe will speak at the Friends of the Library’s Lunch & Learn at the Dothan Country Club. The event starts at 11:30 a.m. Monroe has written 22 novels, and her latest, “The Summer Guests,” will be released in June. Seating will be limited and reservations are required by calling 334-791-2706 or emailing friends@dhcls.org. The event includes a buffet lunch and author presentation for $20. “The Summer Guests” will be available for purchase on June 11, the book’s release date, at the Downtown and Westgate libraries.

JUNE 15

Dancing with the Stars - Dothan Style will be held at the Dothan Civic Center at 7:30 p.m. Now in its 10th year, the competition pairs locals with dancers to raise money for the Dothan Houston County Substance Abuse Partnership.
