Around the Wiregrass June 2019


Burdeshaw Street Missionary Baptist Church, 714 E. Burdeshaw St., in Dothan will host a Youth Summer Feeding Program starting June 3 and continuing until July 31, Monday-Friday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. There will be no feeding on July 4 and July 5. For more information, call 334-798-9715.


The Wiregrass Master Gardeners will present a program on “Growing Hostas” at noon at the main branch of the Dothan Houston County Library System located on North Oates Street in downtown Dothan. The program is free and no registration is required.


The 2019 Dothan-Eufaula District Church School Convention will be held at Water World in Dothan. The gates open at 10 a.m. and the arrival time for the District will be 9 a.m. There is an entrance fee. The host church is the Clopton Circuit AME Church and the Rev. The annual Red and White Golf Scramble will be held at Dothan National Golf Club in Dothan starting at 9 a.m. The event is presented by the Dothan alumni chapters of Delta Sigma Theta sorority and Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. Proceeds help with both chapters’ community service projects in the Wiregrass, such as scholarships and promoting academic excellence. The Hudspeth Reunionwill be held at Dough Tew Recreation Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Attendees should bring a covered dish. For information, call Twila at 334-791-5115.
