Greater Springfield Missionary Baptist Church in New Brockton will hold a Matrons and Missionary Day program on Jan. 12 at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be the Rev. Johnny Foster, pastor of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Brundidge.

Mount Zion Baptist Church in Haleburg will host Mother Minnie Stovall, former district missionary and a member of Macedonia Church of God in Christ in Edwin, as the church’s guest minister for the morning service on Sunday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. Stovall will be the first woman to preach at the historic church since it was founded in 1871. Stovall was appointed in the 1980s to serve as assistant district missionary. She was installed as the district missionary of the Davis/McLeod District in 2005 and retired in November. Minnie Stovall was married to Mount Zion member the late Eugene Stovall.

St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, 120 Girard St., Abbeville, will host Family & Friends Day on Sunday, Jan. 19, beginning with Sunday school at 9:45 a.m. The morning worship service will begin at 11 a.m. Pastor Pierre Harvey will deliver the message. Guests are asked to arrive early to be seated with their host families. Everyone present will be recognized as part of the overall service.
